That it will forward calls to our employees who are hundreds of miles apart as if we were in the same office building. I started a small business selling sunglass straps called, Backstays, and we only had a couple employees who all lived in different cities. We couldn't afford a office assistant to answer calls and then forward them to the right person. This provided an easy way to not only forward our calls to the employees hundreds of miles apart, and alert us the reason the customer was calling (inquiring about an order, wanting to be a campus rep, calling about a custom design, etc. - Grasshopper lets you program these however you want numerically).
I disliked how misleading the price was. Signed up for the cheaper plan and the price ended up going up almost 50% from the advertised price once we had to add in fees. Still a great service but pricier than I initially wanted to pay and thought was fair.
This solves the problem of having our employees not all working under the same roof. It also lets us keep our personal cell phones with a business line forwarded to them. The major benefit we realized was not having to use a secretary or office assistant.
Simple straight forward pricing, features and a great service. You pay a set fee depending on usage and you can easily rotate who gets called and set basic availability. Unlike most services there's not a per user fee which is perfect. We've been using Grasshopper for 2 years and it's just great.
We've had a few problems with dropped calls and quality of the line but their customer service was perfect. They waived our fee for several months while they worked to fix the problem. (We are a UK customer, and they were still new to the market). Other than that, no complaints.
Managing a small business with multiple people answering one phone. Before this we had an insane system of who to call and when using call forwarding and all sorts of insanity. Grasshopper just worked. It was easy to setup and was immediately useful.
The ease of setup and the functionality of the apps.
That they keep playing around with pricing, I am a customer AND an affiliate and in the past year I think the prices have changed three times. It's hard to advertise the business if the prices keep changing :(
Having to carry only one phone for both personal and business calls.
Grasshopper makes it easy to add or remove business lines to the account so that people can still use their cell phones without their personal number being used.
The cost is a bit high compared to other providers but the customer support is very helpful. The need to charge 10 dollars per line that you want to have SMS active, is a disappointment when you have multiple phone numbers being used.
The benefit of a desktop app is very useful for taking and making calls directly from computer in addition to the voice studio that can direct callers to extensions based upon the reason for their call.
It provides our company much more flexibility, yet costs us less money than we were paying with Verizon. It's easy to get in touch with a customer service person when we have a problem to solve.
Tweaking the right initial set up can be a little complicated and confusing, but the Grasshopper customer service people helped us and it's exactly how we want it now.
When our business went from a long-standing bricks and mortar space in NYC to an online-only e-commerce business, Grasshopper provided the perfect solution to meet our very specific needs. While our "office" had became de-centralized, we still wanted to assure our clients that the transition would not in any way effect the outstanding customer service and quick response we provided.
Easy to setup. Pricing ramps up with usage. Makes your organization seem big.
Would be nice to have voicemail transcription included. But costs are still reasonable.
Getting an office phone line that gets to the right person. Everyone has a cell phone so desk extensions don't make much sense anymore.
I like the call health access the best. Courteous staff is always available via phone or email to make on the fly changes to my phone answering and administrative Protocol.
The cost for additional administrative tasks and the cost of minutes seems a little bit high.
I use Grasshopper for virtual secretary services for my medical practice. This includes scheduling, answering urgent phone calls, scanning in medical records and intake forms and connecting me to patients with her urgent issues.
I liked the idea of Grasshopper - a low-cost phone system where I could get up and running right away.
The service and execution were poor. I signed up for a trial, configured everything and then went to upgrade to paid. I could not upgrade to paid. It continued to error out. I contacted support (phone and email) and was told that my trial was broken and that I needed to create a new account. When I called, the phone service was horrible and kept breaking up. I have used Vonage business for years from this same location and never had quality issues like this. I could not create a new account using my same email. I asked that they delete the account so I could create a new account. They told me they could not delete it and that I needed to call billing/account retention to delete it. If I did that, I couldn't just move over the number. I reached out to support again, sure that this craziness was a mistake. Nope. This is how they treat you. It went from being a solution to meet my needs to being about them and their sales numbers. I had been planning to sign up for an annual plan. I am so thankful this happened - after experiencing their support I have decided it it worth the additional cost and signed up with RingCentral instead.
I was solving the need to have an external non-profit phone number with two users.
