Storyblok's most attractive feature has to be its pricing structure. They make it incredibly inviting and easy to quickly spin up a new instance and begin building out a site. You never feel pressured into upgrading tiers when not necessary for your workflow, and there isn't a huge deal of feature segregation between tiers. Beyond its pricing, Storyblok is incredibly easy and intuitive to integrate with Jamstack setups such as NextJS, Gatsby and plain React. The visual editor is relatively easy to use, and no client that I've introduced it to has been unable to use it yet.
Some of the visual editor features can be a little unintuitive at times, and there're some features missing from the visual editor that would be high up on my list of priorities - such as the ability to set more customised/detailed default values for blocks.
The main benefit to Storyblok is the ease and speed of integrating it into an existing React setup. You can spin up a Storyblok instance and within a few short hours have a fully headless CMS powered site ready to go.
User experience, flexibility to configure required layouts
Pricing model is not suitable for our business case. The cost for the service, in general, is too high for the value provided
Enabling non-technical users to edit the content of our company websites. So far Storyblok did solve such problem for us
As a user of Storyblok, an advanced headless Content Management System, I'm impressed by its user-friendliness and flexibility. I find it exceptionally easy to use, which both my clients and I greatly appreciate. With Storyblok, I now manage multiple websites smoothly and efficiently. The editor is a true boon for my editorial team, thanks to its intuitive interface. For me as a developer, Storyblok also offers numerous valuable resources and a well-thought-out logic, greatly facilitating my work on various projects. This combination of ease of use for editors and powerful tools for developers makes Storyblok an important tool in my daily work.
While Storyblok offers many advantages, there are some downsides to consider. One significant issue is the cost; it's not a cheap solution. This can be a deterrent, especially for smaller businesses or individual users who are budget-conscious. Additionally, the sales approach can be a bit aggressive, with a persistent push towards the larger, more expensive packages. This can be overwhelming and may not align with the needs or budgets of all customers, leading to a feeling of being pressured to upgrade beyond what is necessary for their specific use case.
Storyblok, as a headless Content Management System (CMS), excels in its ability to efficiently manage content across multiple websites from a single backend. This feature truly capitalizes on its headless nature, allowing for seamless content distribution and updates across various platforms. By centralizing content management, Storyblok eliminates the need for duplicating efforts for each website, leading to a more streamlined and efficient workflow. This approach not only saves time but also ensures consistency in content quality and branding across all digital properties. The flexibility to serve different front-ends while managing content in one place makes Storyblok an ideal choice for businesses looking to maintain a cohesive online presence across multiple sites.
Our customers love the CMS and we love the backend. The CMS is clean, well-designed and intuitive and gives the user a real-time preview of the implemented content. From the backend perspective, it is great that existing components are reusable and easy to duplicate and move between various pages. Overall it is easy to navigate and easy to get used to.
The pricing model could be updated. A lot of our clients are used to a free-of-charge CMS like Wordpress and sometimes it is hard to explain, why not all are free. However, when stating the benefits, most of them convert and never look back.
Obviously creating beautiful, snappy websites that are easy to use for the developer, the customer and the end-user. The main benefit is the customizable CMS and the overall speed performance.
Storyblok is software that feels light when I use it. The editor page loads quickly and is comfortable to use. The editor updates in real-time, so you don't have to overthink the design. It is very nice to see the changes at the time as I do the same time as I do the editing. It's easy to group the content and sort it once it's published, so it's simple.
The learning curve is pretty straightforward, but getting a handle on Storyblok perfectly takes longer. I recommend reading the documentation to learn more about it. However, I think it could be more intuitive at this point.
I use Storyblok as the main CMS for several websites I manage. It works very well because it is simple to use, but it does not prevent it from being complete enough to create good projects. The software has been a good solution for a reasonably low cost. I just invested time in learning how to use it, which has given me good results.
I’ll be honest — at the beginning, I was a bit skeptical towards Storyblok because it seemed less powerful and flexible than other headless CMS solutions out there. I was wrong. Once you start using it and get your head around it, you’ll see how flexible it is and how easily it can adapt to various scenarios. Start by checking out their tutorials, there are many, and they get updated often. I especially love how easy it is to model content, how fast their API endpoints are, and how extensible and adaptable the tool is.
I personally think that this product has a steeper learning curve when compared to similar products, so I suggest reading the documentation before diving into it. The concept of “blocks” is something different from other CMS, so it might take some time to fully grasp.
I’m using Storyblok as a headless CMS for various websites, ranging from simple landing pages to big websites, including e-commerce platforms. Storyblok has provided me with a cost-effective, consistent platform to handle all the content management needs, allowing non-technical team members to handle content on their own.
Great preview feature that makes a difference comparing to other CMS platforms.
Minor bugs. I can live with them as they not break the overall experience.
When we were looking for a headless CMS solutions, there was nothing to compare with Storyblok reagarding flexibility, ease of use and the amazing preview feature that makes the introduction of new content much easier.
Storyblok makes it easy to quickly build sites with completely custom UIs, and allows you to define customisation at whatever level of granularity you want. It is very cost effective relative to alternatives such as Contentful and is better geared towards design rather than data entry (as Sanity is, for example).
Internationalisation is not trivial and the APIs for handling multi-lingual content aren't ideal. The UI is also not really designed with translation in mind and it is hard to do an external round trip as well.
Storyblok allows us to have a completely custom static site, built in house, but that is easy for marketing to make changes to. We've designed our own content structure of sections and blocks to allow them a lot of flexibility while still providing a look that feels like it has been coded from scratch.
