"Good application, but would appreciate a better UI + simple organizational tools."
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

I enjoy the flexibility of the application. I can definitely analyze data in the way that I want, and create really interesting charts as long as I have the data that I've collected

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

The UI feels a little blocky. I think a more intuitive UI would be a lot easier to use and also a lot more fun to use. Some simple organizational tools would be nice, such as a way to save different groupings of items (i.e., it's possible to create an event segmentation where one of the properties is the WHERE keyword, i.e. where some attribute equals some value. Many times, we want to save groupings of multiple values to quickly check/uncheck those groups of values instead of individually check each one)

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Understanding the reach of our products and also understanding how customers move through our applications and where they might encounter problems.

"Helpful for app analytics"
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

It's easy to learn how to use the interface since there are a limited amount of report types. The company is quick to respond and make updates based on customer feedback - I see this product only getting better over time. Customer service is fantastic and helpful. Getting basic numbers such as how many people are doing x and how often is relatively straightforward, as well as building a funnel. I particularly like the "Group by" view in a Segmentation report, where you can breakdown an event by a property and see the percent which fall into each property value, such as as app installed broken down by country. These basic views are easy enough for the non techinical user to figure out, but there are more advanced ways to look at the reporting, such as with formulas, which can be really helpful.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

In my opinion, there is a lot of room for improvement. I like to check data 2 ways to ensure it is telling me what I think it is telling me. I feel Amplitude is a bit rigid where there is really only one way to look at a report. For example, comparing funnels and pathing often don't align - I understand they are not the same, but I get really surprising/confusing results sometimes. It also does not do well mixing client-side and server-side events, breaking them into separate user streams altogether. I'm not too fond of the breakdown tables in the charts, which display dates horizontally rather than vertically, and this is how the exports look as well. Funnels don't show the percentages unless you hover over each bar, and it doesn't even show you the numbers per bar when you add the funnel to a dashboard. Lastly, because of the many display limitations I run into, I wish there was an Excel plugin to lay out the desired data and refresh it or make minor changes as needed.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

We frequently look at how many users are impacted by a particular issue, which is sometimes hard to measure and understand. This goes back to my note about funnels and pathing reports often not aligning. We also like to look at our key funnels and measure the changes over time, whether through the conversion over time view or a date comparison, and it's also easy to create multiple segments to compare to one another side by side. Additionally, it's generally helpful for monitoring trends, and anomaly reporting, as well as report monitors (alerts), are very helpful. The anomaly alerts have an option to run a "root cause analysis" which can be great for identifying what is causing the increase or decline. In summary, we frequently use it for understanding our funnels, monitoring trends, and digging into when trends/numbers suddenly change. We would not have any clear insight into this without Amplitude.

"Great company building a comprehensive analytics toolkit"
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

Basic charts are executed well, and the Persona chart type is a real differentiator. Clustering can take significant time to execute with Python, so we're able to iterate much faster on behavioral profiling than we would relying entirely on our data warehouse. It's also really nice to have experimentation, analytics, and data governance all in one platform. This is actively allowing our product teams to build experiment velocity and iterate on analytics without feeling like mediocre instrumentations decisions made years ago are a blocker to getting good insights.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

In certain regions, our teams occasionally have performance issues. The data governance tools are still rough around the edges, particularly if you want to provide a single internal source of truth for your event schema. However, they're very receptive to feedback from beta users, so I'm confident these issues are a priority and will be addressed.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have hundreds of events, multiple surfaces, and comparatively few analysts. Amplitude provides a significant dollar value savings in time to quantitative insight for our product and design teams, leaving the capacity for our analysts to focus on deeper work.

"Nice"
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

Oh, I really like how Amplitude Analytics provides in-depth insights into user behavior and helps me understand how people interact with my website or app. The real-time analytics and user-friendly interface make it easy for me to track key metrics and make data-driven decisions. Plus, the platform's flexibility allows me to create custom reports and analyze specific events, giving me a comprehensive view of user engagement. Overall, it's a powerful tool that greatly enhances my ability to optimize and improve the user experience.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

Well, one thing that can be a bit challenging with Amplitude Analytics is the learning curve. It took me some time to fully grasp all the features and functionalities the platform offers. The abundance of options and settings can be overwhelming for beginners, and I wish there were more comprehensive tutorials or guides to make the onboarding process smoother. Additionally, while the basic features are user-friendly, some advanced functionalities may require a deeper understanding of analytics concepts. Sometimes, I find myself spending extra time figuring out how to set up more complex analyses or interpret certain data points. Lastly, the cost can be a consideration for smaller businesses or startups. The pricing structure may be a bit steep for those on a tight budget, especially as the scale of data and usage increases. It would be great to see more affordable plans or flexible options tailored to the needs of smaller businesses.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

Amplitude Analytics is instrumental in solving several crucial problems related to understanding user behavior and improving the overall performance of my website or app. Here are a few key benefits: Insights into User Behavior: Amplitude helps me gain deep insights into how users interact with my platform. By tracking user journeys, identifying popular features, and analyzing drop-off points, I can make informed decisions to enhance the overall user experience. Data-Driven Decision-Making: With Amplitude, I can base my decisions on real-time, accurate data rather than relying on assumptions or gut feelings. This ensures that any changes or updates I make to the platform are backed by solid analytics, increasing the likelihood of success. Optimizing User Engagement: Understanding user engagement patterns allows me to optimize the content, features, and overall design of my website or app. This helps in retaining users, increasing session durations, and ultimately driving business goals. Personalization and Targeting: Amplitude enables me to create targeted marketing campaigns and personalized experiences. By analyzing user segments and behavior, I can tailor messages and promotions to specific audiences, improving the effectiveness of my marketing efforts. Identifying and Fixing Issues: The platform's ability to track events and user interactions helps me quickly identify any technical issues or bottlenecks within the application. This proactive approach allows for prompt issue resolution, ensuring a smooth user experience. In summary, Amplitude Analytics is a valuable tool for me as it provides the insights needed to refine and optimize my digital presence, ultimately leading to better user satisfaction and business success.

"Amplitude is an extremely powerful tool that I would recommend to anyone"
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

It is much easier to use than alternatives. I have experience working with Google Analytics, Looker, and Adobe Analytics and looker is the most user friendly out of the bunch. Once data is sent into Amplitude, it is extremely easy to filter/get usable insights from using their segmentation tool. I learn new things about our users everyday.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

We have a lot of utm values in amplitude that aren't being used anymore. It'd be helpful to understand how many times on average each utm value is being used without me having to specifically select those values in my analysis to figure that out. This is currently done for events (I can see how many times each event is being fired, but not for values such as utm parameters. It'd be helpful to have it for both)

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am able to: 1. Easily figure out stat sig for A/B tests 2. Understand more about my users (via funnel diagrams, segmentation, etc) This allows me to make better product lead decisions as a product manager.

"Good product, but opaque pricing. I believe there are better alternatives."
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

It is easy to set up, and get yourself and the team up and running. I really like the fact that it offers an unlimited amount of use in their free tier (unlike other competitors like Mixpanel), which enables you to try it with no risk. The rest of the features are comparable to other event-driven analysis tools. Their architecture tends to map the business easily, which makes it easy to run queries compared to database-driven analytics platforms like Metabase or Google Data Studio (I've not tried the enterprise level one Looker, Tableau, ...) but it must be similar.

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

Their pricing model is opaque. They don't provide you with an indication of what you will pay, which makes it scary to invest in setting it up. Whilst it is easy to get yourself up and running (with something like Google Tag Manager generating events for it), you will very quickly find yourself investing engineering time in sending events to Amplitude. This investment becomes hard to justify when you know you will reach a point where you will have to start paying. I've heard that their minimum price is of around £1000 annual (paid upfront), which for some companies can be quite steep to swallow. I reached a point where I wanted a specific feature that was only offered in their enterprise tier (still during my experimentation with the tool), but as I didn't how much I'd be paying for it, I decided to go for a competitor with a more transparent pricing model.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

The business gained instant access to our data. Something that has been really hard in the past.

"Potentially powerful but could do more"
What do you like best about Amplitude Analytics?

I feel like there is a lot of data being collected that's really valuable. It gives me a much better view of our product than I would have had otherwise. The ability to create charts embedded in dashboards, which can then be embedded into team spaces is really powerful. It gives our teams data points for understanding engagement, rather than just guessing

What do you dislike about Amplitude Analytics?

I feel like, despite the volume of data collected, there are limitations to the things I can do with that data. For example, I'm not able to do much or any analysis with it. Also, some of the UI isn't the most intuitive, so setting up meaningful dashboards isn't always straightforward. I feel like I may benefit from some training but I'm not sure if there is an account manager for that.

What problems is Amplitude Analytics solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have multiple parts of our product. I'm using Amplitude to understand who is using which parts and how much. This is allowing me to see who key users are in our accounts, who the best people to approach are for getting feedback and to understand potential issues with our product that need to be addressed
