I like the ease of use and administration of the software and that it's cloud based so not too biased on IT involvement. It's easy to setup using basic IT skills and so can be introduced to a wider audience for now.

Cost. It's quite costly compared to other PLM variants out on the market. However it does do a good job.

The benefits of installing Autodesk PLM 360 has been to bring together project data, updates and communications in to 1 platform for all to see. Using this software has made it easier to keep up to date with project progress and information sharing

Excellent interface, very easy to program. Drag and Drop workflow development with an ease-of-use design focus minimizes development and startup time. Ability to access the software from mobile devices adds value when utilized in a manufacturing environment.

Currently not able to open PDF files on a mobile device or plot Gannt charts. Calander view would add significant value.

Project visibility across multiple departments has dramatically improved. Easier for engineering to see current parts stock when integrated with an ERP system. Scripting automates part configurators without requiring additional software suites.

Rapid deployment model that shakes up the thinking of traditional implementation models. We will also be evaluating other areas of the product and pdm in the cloud.

Nothing as yet, as we are undergoing a product evaluation trial. Most features look promising.

we have solved our scheduling issues in out plant. it helps create a timeline of the products life from quoting to the end of the products life.

web based platform, hugely customizable and supported very well by autodesk. I also like charting my reports into my dashboard for a quick snapshot of outstanding items etc.

slow loading and searches, refresh cycles are sometimes stalled unless manually driven. needs a better critical path and scheduling tool for project management.

All the information for a program is located centrally and dependent relationships can be created to link critical items.

It is slow and my group (certification) is not fit as well by the templates as engineering is - apparently updating the code for our group is not easy enough to make it worth while (mainly document flow types). .

I am linking DO-160 qualification requirements to their system testing further down the line in the program in order to certify the product. Different people, longer timelines and PLM helps to ensure the deliverables are dependent on my requirements so they are not lost.

Upchain has greatly improved our CAD handling. Our previous process involved a google drive folder. The ability to lock parts, revision control parts, and associate drawings/analysis/manufacturing files with a part in a way more elegant than a file tree has proven its use time and again. The cloud based system was very easy to stand up for a small team without dedicated information technology personnel. It supported our team members both locally and at remote sites. All other pain points aside, it's a powerful tool for ensuring everyone is working on the same models and isn't loosing work due to conflicts or disorganization. The online view and measurement tool is powerful, useful, and awesome capability.

Upchain has several rough edges still. Their provided tutorials are often outdated by the time you see them, and it is frustrating for the program to behave differently than expected. Upchain does not support some of our processes well (such as tying free-text to configurations in Solidworks) . It is also frustrating that not all functionality is available in all places, for example, moving a part back to development has to happen in the CAD plugin rather than on the web interface. It's occasionally frustrating as you need to be in certain views (Project vs cBoM, etc) to do certain activities. Doing in-house integrations with Upchain is proving difficult with limited documentation.

Upchain is providing revision and configuration control. Without a cloud based CAD solution our work from home engineers and representatives at conferences would be less effective.

The organization and checking in, checking out feature

The help page is not very helpful, and some of the buttons in the program do not work.

Lack of communication as to when something needs to be completed and by who. We are very early in our experience, so no real benefits have been realized yet, but i am sure this will happen once we start using Upchain more.

The high level of customization and 'you can pretty much do anything you want' vibe of the whole application. For instance, the way in which any team's workflows can be directly translated to a block diagram is very powerful, and the scripting engine allows for some pretty deep add-on customization. The robust API makes custom integrations easy for even an untrained programmer like myself. The admin module (workflow editor, item details editor, etc.) is very easy to use and overall a great user experience. This is often overlooked in systems like these. The concept behind workspaces and items and their relationships is easy to explain to just about any user, allowing them to cook up their own workspaces if they request them.

The entire document/attachment system. There's no bulk file imports, and everything is limited to a one-to-one item to file relationship. Large workarounds and scripts must be created to accommodate some very simple document management operations. Support has indicated that this is changing, but I've seen nothing in the last year. The sourcing tab is very limited, and bulk import/export are not easy to accomplish (e.g. BOM scrubbing). While attractive, the classification module is completely useless - the data cannot be exported, reported on, or displayed in BOMs. Generally, although the scripting module powerful, it's clear that it's being used overused (out of the box) to write in features that ought to be easier to administrate (e.g. workflow approvals, custom part numbering) It's also lacking out of the box integration with other Autodesk tools, even ones explicitly named Fusion!

BOM management, cross-team coordination, and rapid estimate generation for our entire prefab building system. The ability to write a custom integration with Revit API has allowed us to automatically keep BOMs up to date on a project to project basis, with the simple click of a button.

The support from the AD team. FLC has a great potential to drive a majority of company business processes as the de-facto business process engine, but the application really needs to be stable.

The modern UI version is buggy and unstable. The incorporation of cPDM with FLC is extremely flawed in security and relationships. The interfaces between cPDM, Autodesk Drive, and FLC are not consistent. The document viewer has multiple bugs and the UX can be cleaned up. The UI/UX while better than the classic can be much more intuitive. Why does it take so many clicks??? The mobile app does not allow you to view attachments so it is almost worthless. System speed is also an issue. Using the system in China and Europe can be challenging. Browser compatibility is limited.

Using this system as a single source of truth for the company. We have deployed document management, CAPA, MRB, Training, and certifications and are looking to deploy BOM and NPI. Benefits have been minor due to the amount of bugs in the system.

everything worked..I guess? You can add functionality, which is really nice. I went to a PLM meeting in Novi, MI which i thought was really helpful.

Its confusing, slow, non-intuitive. When I would search for one upper level SKU, I would get everything related to it, all the old revisions, packaging-everything. It was terrible. I get that filters help, but no way should it be that crazy

Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage PLM accompanies the entire process chain around a product. From planning and development to production preparation, manufacturing, assembly, sales and beyond. The complete life cycle is mapped. An essential aspect of PLM is access to product data that is always up-to-date for everyone involved in the process chain. This ensures maximum efficiency in all phases of the product lifecycle. This process is supported by central data management, in which all product data and information are bundled. Well structured, PLM can be an excellent basis for agile, interdisciplinary processes around products. In addition to the technical requirements, the most important thing is to involve the employees. Teamwork is another central starting point for PLM.

The very fast software improvements, thanks to the Cloud Platform. Otherwise, the system is very stable and has no problems.

We are solving BOM and Change Management Problems. We have connected the hole business engineering CAD / PDM / PLM / CRM / ERP.

Upchain is clearly focused on simplifying complex PLM processes. Recently, we conducting a review of several major PLM platforms, and Upchain was the only one that our users were excited about. They were able to pick up on the platform with very little training, and felt like it would allow them to do their day-to-day job better. The Solidworks integration for Upchain is a differentiator. They've done a really good job bringing the major capabilities of the system into the plugin, and it does a really good job blurring the lines between "PLM Data" to "CAD Data". From an IT perspective, their Cloud approach makes it much easier to quickly get started with the platform. Their "Partner Enablement" team (Upchain terms for sales & support) has also been helpful in getting us on-boarded and trained.

Upchain does not have all of the functionality of a traditional, major PLM. This has been changing pretty rapidly, and they've been very receptive to our feedback in terms of priority.

We're primarily using Upchain for its Design Collaboration features, including CAD Management, Bill of Materials Management, and Change Control (ECO) . We're also using some of the document management and requirements management tools. As we, and the platform, mature, we intent to use it to manage the service & maintenance of our products.

Upchain provides a central location for all our product specifications, allowing great collaboration for CAD (Solidworks), and online CAD viewer! The user interface is very slick and web-enabled which is a must these days. Communications of changes is very well done also through emails ahead of time. The visualization tool for changes, and just in general CAD viewing is great as not everyone in our company has solid works or a viewer, so this makes things much easier. There are lots of columns that can be customized, and the multiple preset views allows for quick changes to the data displayed, which we do all the time.

We know it's in the pipeline, but documentation management would be great to allow us to have a full suite of design inputs (all the documentation) along with the design outputs (all the data), to round-out the development tracking side of things. Can't wait to see what the team releases! The BOM tool could be a little better as you navigate up/down the chain.

Previously our company had many rogue engineering processes such as engineering change requests, engineering change notice, non conformance reviews, engineering deviations, and many more. Managing all these processes got messy very quickly but Upchain has helped formalize these processes and brought them all under the same roof. With the Upchain features it is very simple to review the engineering documents and kick off a process or assign work.

I wish there was a better feature to track productivity. Such as, the total number of ECR's completed in the past month sorted by the departments that did the work. A feature for tracking these statistics would help provide managers with a high level of what is going on and equip them with the information they would like to see from a brief glance. Another feature that took some time to work with is the way Upchain segments by project. If your company does not already split work out by project it takes a little bit to get used to. The project approach also makes it difficult to manage sustaining efforts.

Upchain is helping to reduce many uncertainties within the company related to parts and the latest revisions. In some instances the files associated with a particular part number is not always clear. Without any organizational logic in the drawing/schematic directories it becomes very difficult for purchasing, manufacturing, or other department to distinguish which revision is actively being used. between the different revisions. Upchain helps eliminate that uncertainty while allowing for red lines and comments to be applied and tracked directly within Upchain.

Upchain provides a great service for BOM and change management. The online viewer for browsing 3D models imported from our Solidworks developers is great for non-Solidworks users (quality team, management team, electrical/software developers, etc.), and even for Solidworks developers that aren't on their CAD computers. The price point for Upchain is also really great and hard to beat for small teams. The customization of workflows is really nice as it allows our company to start making different paths for different products/stages of the design.

User interface could be tweaked for repetitive tasks, like making changes to a part in the expanded BOM, but then the BOM collapses after the change takes effect you must re-expand all levels. Also, document management that matches part management would be excellent. The ECR/ECO/ECN process could be tailored more closely to ECO processes like ISO 13485, especially with the ECN aspect which doesn't really match the typical "notification" stage that we are working with in the medical space. The ability to customize the part's metadata further, and remove fields that aren't used even if they are defaults in the system. This would be nice to make it cleaner and less cumbersome when reviewing.

We were managing BOMs and parts using Excel, and now using Upchain which is great for that. We were also doing our own "vault" for solid works parts, which is now being done by Upchain and helps with collaboration.

Easy to use and understand without help. Very useful for managing CAD models and drawings. Very easy to perform engineering change along with tracing the changes completed previously.

Not able to create new part number for small change (design shared with other assembly with small change) in current assembly and need to restart from zero.

Managing CAD models and drawings. Creating bill of material for manufacturing drawings for vendors, Bill of Materials for purchase and assembly team. Mostly importantly easily able to create Bill of materials for different products.

Cloud based, very powerful, plug-ins for Solidworks, Office, and Visio are great. Assistance from customer support is excellent.

With a lot of power comes complexity, but once you work through the steps it make sense.

Document / version control, CAD model storage.

1) The ability to accurately store information. 2) Being able to consistently create documentation under the company's standards. 3) Having this data available and easily retrieved across the entire corporation.

The lack of control for duplicate entries. PLM will allow the user to create more than one record with the same keyword. Unlike other applications, there is no filter to point out that there is already a current record available in the system with the same contents.

I am a documentation specialist. My job is to gather and document the company's data that is either stored under a different application or not readily available. The later being data that is used mainly by one person but that could benefit the rest of the team.

-The cloud based system is great for collaborating with remote team members -The system is fairly customizable -The Upchain team has been helpful training our team and providing help when we run into issues

-There is huge potential in the features to share files with vendors. I would like to see this expanded to include neutral file formats and customizable file naming -I believe the CAD plugin can be improved for speed of use with features like an automatically expanding tree -I would like additional control over the revision system

We are designing mobility products in Upchain. We recently have had to move to the entire team working remotely. Upchain has allowed us to do this smoothly.
