We have been using Vinyl to build modern interfaces to a backend database built on SQL. We have been building new "modules" of our platform using Vinyl, and partnering with the team has been nothing short of amazing. The technical resources are knowledgeable, communicate well, turn around functionality in a short time, and have been able to deliver value in weeks. We are also able to view and report on our backend data in ways we have never been able to in the past. I would highly recommend this product and the team to others looking to modernize software, improve business processes, and create new views into data and business insights.
The current Zudy/Vinyl website doesn't do a good job of showcasing capabilities. I would recommend updating it to showcase more case studies and an overview of platform offerings.
Building modern interfaces for our home-grown software. Creating business processes to augment collection of data for our Finance and Corporate Operations functions. Reporting across multiple platforms through the Vinyl solution.
I was able to pick up Vinyl without much prior coding experience and create my first useful app in a month. The tutorial for beginners goes over an excellent baseline of the basics you need to learn, and there is lots of documentation and a broad community that helps you improve.
The interfacing between the data and the website was never really clear to me.
I am using data to streamline the auditing process. For example, I am making audits more efficient than using spreadsheets by autofilling repetitive fields and making the UI more ergonomic. I also use it to make aesthetic charts.
Visualization (board view) for page development is quite intuitive
Some views should be easier to default based on the underlying data model (more model driven UI would be good)
Rapid prototyping of a new product
The ability to design pages quickly and the connection between developing in Vinyl and SQL.
It would be nice to be able to copy conditional formatting from one control to the next without having to recreate the formatting conditions.
Being able to evaluate our out of stock items in real time has allowed us to quickly address inventory issues.
Limitless ability to integrate across complex environments: ERP, CRM, data warehouse
This is another tool for your team to learn.
We are automating mundane tasks with VINYL. We quickly deployed tools to help with coaching, expense reporting and procurment.
Vinyl can develop applications fast and minimizes the human error made by software developers. It covers all the layers of an application and it is great for generating UI. The database layer also makes it easier to generate tables and relationships.
As a developer, it is difficult to adjust to Vinyl's business logic layer. A lot of control that you have as a developer is surrendered to the Vinyl IDE and that makes it tricky for me. Also, it would be better if Vinyl had some sort of testing framework for developers like me who are used to test driven development.
I am currently working on an application for my company's Internal Audit department. I realized that Vinyl takes a lot of the development time away from the developer and that makes way for more times to design a rigid solution. Vinyl also makes it easy to edit existing apps without worrying about breaking it.
Quick data connections and UI development. Separation between the four major layers makes things clean.
No comprehensive manual or site w/manual
Lots of small but complicated projects involving several departments and vendors. So far have been able to make changes and deploy a lot easier than our in house dev team.
The speed in which someone can build practical business apps
No ability to copy pages across apps. This takes way too much time to manually copy them over
The speed is the biggest benefit
Vinyl allows you to spin up apps faster than you could ever imagine. The no-code platform is insanely powerful.
The speed of the application development is sometimes too fast, that the rest of the business can't keep up.
We have done things a simple as excel replacement to as complicated as reworking our entire business process around sales reporting.
Not sure how other companies are implementing Vinyl bu we use it as a way to keep track of radio endorsement campaigns. By using Vinyl sales reps can see what each jock has for current endorsements and if they're client would be a good fit for them. This is a much better system to have in place than the one we had prior
So far, after using it to the extent that I have there doesn't seem to be any serious issues. At times it runs a little slow on our server but that more than likely is not Vinyl's fault.
It's providing us with much better organization when it comes to our endorsement campaigns. We can view what each of our jocks currently is doing for endorsements by a click of a button versus reaching out via email. Everything is recorded and on Vinyl.
It's pretty easy to use...gives lots of info about personalities outside your market and lets you know which markets that some of your local talent may be in.
I think the sorting of information can be streamlines a little better.
I am able to know the cost for outside endorsers as well as who they are reaching marketwise
No code platform development tools are easy to use.... better then competitors
Expanding breadth of functionality to keep pace with cutting edge business
Healthcare business, smooth working landscape
The ability to bring up a web based application quickly that will work on multiple browsers and on multiple devices without having to create specific code for different combinations is a life saver! I can focus on creating the best content for the business process and not worry about if my user base is on a phone or a tablet or a desktop computer and if it is a Mac or a PC. The ability to bring together multiple data sources into one application and bring them all to one page as usable information has also proven to be a huge asset.
From a programmers perspective in which I am used to writing in code and able to do anything at all, it is a little challenging to understand the interface. But once immersed in the creation process it is just like learning a new language, and it becomes clear and easier to understand.
Many manual processes are being rolled into the application and as users see the ease of use and benefit more additional processes are being selected to be integrated into the application. This is creating a streamlining of workflow that was not in place prior to this.
The platform allows for automation that has assisted our business. It has a number of uses that allow it be the source for multiple reports and data sets, creating a more accessible tool with many functions.
It has some limitations to customizability, such as charts and email functionality.
It lets our business to track live economics based on API connected data, allowing us to make decisions and understand how the business is operating in a given period. It also stores thousands of datapoints for easy access.
Knowledge of SQL quickly translates to the ability to develop applications.
Low-code/No-code doesn't mean NO code. Still need a developer.
Report data from multiple external systems in one place.
Flexibility in creating attractive and intiuative dashboards, custom reports, and corporate applications.
Somewhat difficult to create new features, despite no-code / low-code intent. Support development is frequently required for siginficant improvements / new features.
Custom applications, KPI platform, data warehouse. Vinyl has become the internal "source-of-truth" at our company and has become a trusted resource for teammembers in all departments.
Easy to use platform. Solutions architects are great developers and help enhance our products.
The frequent major changes to the UI sometimes make it hard to know how to do things. The release process is a bit clunky and hard to figure out although it has been improved a lot recently.
Vinyl is allowing our business users to have more responsibility in how their products are organized and maintained. Allows a lot of flexibility in our business solutions.
Low code, great in-app reporting/dashboards, proprietary company CRM
Must use Zudy/vinyl team for development
better connection points for data, one-stop-shop for all things revenue
We have enjoyed working with the engineers. They have made it easy to implement our idea.
Nothing at this time. We are still implementing
Nothing yet
It helps us quickly develop dashboard displays to analyze network configuration data. It helps us quickly build a web application to demonstrate concept and feasibility to customers and leaders. You can achieve this without having to code much.
VINYL is a faily new platform, so there is not as much outside helps such as stackoverflow, but their knowledgebase and community forum occasionally make up for that.
We wanted to display a dashboard consisting of massive data set in a digestible manner. We can get the application in the hand of users quickly and gather further feedback to refine the product.
